सोचThe Thoughts
सोच Soch. What a person actually thinks, before it is dressed up.
Long essays, short columns, one-line sutras and arguments from people who disagree, published unedited. All of it goes out under सामरिक Saamrik: सम्, together and in proportion, with ऋक्, a verse said with care. Soch is the thinking. Saamrik is the imprint.

Join Before the Design Freezes
Europe’s joint sixth-generation fighter collapsed in June. France will now build its own and the UK, Italy and Japan are open to new partners. India should keep AMCA on track and join one as a co-developer while the drawings are still wet. After that the only seat left is an observer’s.

India, Bharat, Hindustan
One passport carries three countries. India speaks English in Lutyens’ Delhi and South Bombay. Bharat is rising in the second cities. Hindustan lives in the villages and interiors, and that is where the next forty years of growth will be found.

Second Place, Ten Years Late
I put down deposits on two Tesla Model 3s in 2016. Neither came. Ten years on Tesla is second among India’s luxury electric cars. It has learnt to price for India and to build for Indian families. It has not yet learnt to make anything here.

India Is Right About Carbon. Its Numbers Should Be Too.
In Berlin this week India’s commerce minister asked Europe who caused the climate mess. The argument is sound and the clip went viral. Three of the numbers in it were not. Why the fairness case is strong enough to win on the true figures, and what India should put on the table next.

The Line That Took Sixty-Eight Years
At midnight on 31 July 2015, 162 enclaves changed countries and more than 50,000 people stopped being stateless. India settled its land border with Bangladesh by handing over acres it never held. विजय Vijay, the second of India’s great diplomatic wins.

Thorium Is the Key. Build Everything Else Now.
India sits on the largest thorium reserves on earth and has just lit the reactor that leads to them. That is the long game. The short game is solar with storage, hydro, wind and the factories that make them, built fast enough to beat 2070 and to answer Europe’s carbon tax on our terms.

China rose by making the world’s goods. India rose by serving the world in English. For forty years the two paths looked like a choice. AI ends the choice. A decade-old theory, tested against the data, and what it asks of India on the road to 2047.

Why the iPhone Duo Costs ₹3 Lakh in India

Mend Before You Build
On 20 October 2026 a Maersk container ship went up on a shiplift near Chennai: the line’s first drydocking in India. India builds under one per cent of the world’s ships and pays foreign lines about 75 billion dollars a year in freight. The road to a developed India by 2047 runs through the repair yard first.

नीतिThe ten heads
Eight nītis, and two ways of looking.
नीति is not policy and not ethics. It is the conduct a thing requires if it is to hold. Eight of these are the scales the work is argued at. A person, an enterprise, an economy, a public, a state, its diplomacy, its strategy, its society. Two are lenses laid across all eight.

नीतिचक्र·The whole of it on one plate
Ten heads, five lengths, one imprint
The rim is what a piece is about — the scale it is argued at. The inner ring is how long it is and how often it comes. Touch any part of the wheel to read it, or click straight through.
Eight nītis (scales of argument, from the person to the state) are the scales. Itihāsa (history) and Parihās (satire) are lenses laid across all eight.
रूपFive lengths
How long, and how often.
A reader should be able to tell from the label how much of their evening a piece intends to take, and whether it is a settled position or a note made in passing.

The guide
A lesson from the Founder Library, with a figure you can move. Written as the house.
राष्ट्रहितThe house rule
Every wager is dated, and scored in public.
राष्ट्रहित, the national interest, is the lens laid over every head. It is stated here so a reader can discount for it rather than discover it halfway down a page.
The wager ledger- 01
One dated wager, scored in public.
Where a Vimarsh makes a claim the world can score, it ends on one call with a date, specific enough to be shown wrong. Every call is kept on the ledger at /wagers and reviewed each quarter.
- 02
Sources are named in the line, not in a footnote.
Chapter and verse where it is scripture, the outlet and the date where it is reporting, the filing where it is a number. A claim a reader cannot check is decoration.
- 03
The position stands as it was taken.
Where the evidence has since gone against a piece, the piece stays and the evidence goes underneath it. Writing that quietly updates itself to stay right is worth nothing.
- 04
Disagreement is published unedited.
संवाद Samvād (the dialogue) exists for that. The best objection to anything here belongs on this site, in the objector’s own words.
सूचीBy tag
Enter by the thing itself.
The ten heads say what scale a piece is argued at. A tag says what it is actually about. A country, a thinker, an institution, a trade. Every tag opens its own page.
