Roots · शासन Governance and democracy
Minimum government, maximum governance.
India built UPI and DigiLocker for a billion people and still has cases older than most of its judges. The same country can do both. The task is to bring the speed of its digital rails to its courts, its police and its towns.
Seven positions, stated plainly.
Faster justice.
More than 5.6 crore cases are pending. Justice delayed is a tax on every honest person and every business.
Digital public infrastructure as a model for the world.
Aadhaar, UPI and DigiLocker run at a scale no private stack has matched. UPI now works in 11 countries.
Reform the state.
Police, bureaucracy and elections. The state should do fewer things and do them well. No state yet complies fully with the Supreme Court’s 2006 police reforms.
Local power.
Cities and panchayats need money and authority of their own. A country of 1.4 billion cannot be run from two capitals.
Fill the bench on a clock.
341 High Court posts and 7,310 district court posts are empty. The six-month timeline to start appointments is rarely met. A deadline nobody keeps is not a deadline.
Clear the 30-year-old cases.
More than 1.6 lakh cases in High Courts and district courts are over 30 years old. A time-bound drive for them is justice for families who have waited a generation.
Treat court data as critical public infrastructure.
The judicial data grid went down in October 2026 as pendency passed 5.6 crore. Court data deserves the uptime UPI has.
Governance in seven numbers.
- 5.64 cr Cases pending in all courts: Jul 2026.
- 95,019 Pending in the Supreme Court: 1 Oct 2026.
- ~21 Judges per million people: Sanctioned strength.
- 30.4% High Court judge posts vacant: 341 of 1,122.
- 24.1 bn UPI payments in Sep 2026: 802 million a day.
- 231 cr Aadhaar authentications in a month: Nov 2025.
- 72.4 cr DigiLocker users: Aug 2026.
