Inner Engineering: wellbeing as a technology

His core programme is Inner Engineering. He presents classical yoga as a practical method for inner wellbeing and not a creed. The course teaches Shambhavi Mahamudra Kriya, a 21-minute breathing and meditation practice. A 2025 study by researchers at a Sadhguru-named centre at Beth Israel Deaconess reported lower stress after a year. It had no control group and lost most of its participants.

Responsibility as the ability to respond

He redefines responsibility as the ability to respond. It is a chapter of Inner Engineering. He sets it against fear and helplessness. A person who keeps the ability to respond will do whatever can be done. His advice is to respond and not react.

Responsibility means response-ability – your ability to respond.

Yoga as a science and not a religion

He insists yoga is not a faith. On International Day of Yoga 2026 he called it a route to peak performance in body, mind, emotion and energy. His book on Adiyogi presents Shiva as the first yogi and not a god of one religion. He says Shiva stands for personal responsibility.

Joy as the basis of life and action

Inner Engineering is subtitled A Yogi’s Guide to Joy. He argues that joy is found within and not in outside conditions. The book moves from seeking joy inward to acting to shape one’s own path. Each section ends with a short practice.

Soil and rivers as civilisational priorities

Since Rally for Rivers in 2017 his campaigns have treated rivers and soil as national priorities. Cauvery Calling pushed farmers towards agroforestry to revive the river. Save Soil asks governments to set a floor of 3 to 6 percent organic content in farm soil. He says India’s farm soil averages 0.68 percent and that below 1 percent is desertification.

The organic content in the soil is the basic ingredient in making life forms on earth.

Karma reread as freedom

In Karma he pushes back on the fatalism the word has gathered in India. He goes beyond the idea that people simply get what they deserve. He offers a set of sutras as a practical guide. His publisher says the aim is to turn readers from passengers into drivers of their own destiny.

Bharat and cultural confidence

He asks Indians to take pride in their civilisation and its name. He says occupiers first change a nation’s name. In 2024 he backed NCERT’s move to use Bharat in school textbooks. He urged people to bring Bharat into daily speech.

Younger generations must know that Bharat existed long before India was born.
