Cursor
The AI code editor that developers chose on their own.
Now a wholly owned subsidiary of SpaceX after an all-stock deal valued at $60B closed on 14 August 2026.
What it is
Cursor is a code editor with AI built into every step: autocomplete that predicts the next edit, chat over the whole codebase and agents that make changes across files. It is made by Anysphere.
Why it grew
Engineers installed it themselves and paid with their own cards. Once whole teams used it their employers signed enterprise contracts. Revenue passed $1B in under three years with almost no outbound sales.
