India’s millionaire households
8.71 lakh Indian households are worth ₹8.5 crore ($1 million) or more. That is up 90% in four years. Mumbai alone holds one in six of them.

What a founder takes from it: Indian wealth is compounding fast. It is still concentrated: about three in every thousand households and one city with a sixth of them. For founders the market for premium products, wealth services and luxury travel is real. It grew about 17% a year from 2021 to 2025 (our calculation from the two counts). The bigger story is the next ring. Pune, Gurugram, Surat, Jaipur and Vadodara already sit in the top fifteen cities.
