Shiprocket books a ₹60 lakh profit on ₹674 crore revenue. Other income covered the gap

The listed e-commerce logistics company moved from a ₹20.3 crore loss a year ago. Its core earns well. Its newer businesses still lose money.

Shiprocket has moved into profit for the September quarter. Net profit was about ₹60 lakh, against a net loss of ₹20.3 crore a year earlier. SAHI gives the consolidated figure as ₹59 lakh. Revenue from operations rose 34.7% to ₹673.6 crore from ₹500.2 crore.

Read the profit closely. Total income was ₹693.5 crore, and NewsBytes puts expenses at ₹693 crore. Other income of ₹19.9 crore is larger than that gap. Revenue from operations alone did not cover costs this quarter.

There are two businesses inside the number. Core revenue rose about 25% to ₹461.5 crore, with adjusted EBITDA of ₹59.1 crore and a 12.8% margin. Emerging revenue rose about 61% to ₹212.2 crore, with an adjusted EBITDA loss of ₹44.9 crore. That loss margin narrowed to 21.2% from 31.5%. Together they made ₹14.2 crore of adjusted EBITDA, a 2.1% margin.

The half year is still a net loss, of ₹13.1 crore. Cash from operations improved to ₹55.1 crore from ₹23.8 crore. Active merchants stand at 2,36,116. These are the sellers who depend on this plumbing to reach buyers across India.

The company listed on 19 August after a ₹1,617.48 crore IPO priced at ₹97. It opened at ₹131 on the NSE. A listed company reports every quarter. The next test is simple: profit that revenue from operations pays for by itself.

What a founder takes from it: A profit of this size shows direction. It does not yet show durability. Founders should read the segment lines: a strong core can fund new bets only while those losses keep narrowing.
