Rajput’s 107 is not enough. Pakistan beat India by three wickets in the U19 Asia Cup

India were bowled out for 208 in Al Amerat, Oman. Hamza Zahoor’s unbeaten century took Pakistan home in the 49th over.

Pakistan beat India by three wickets in their Group A match at the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup in Al Amerat, Oman, on Sunday. India chose to bat and were bowled out for 208 in 46.3 overs. Pakistan reached 212 for 7 in 48.1 overs. Hamza Zahoor finished unbeaten on a century.

India’s top order went early. Captain Lakshya Raichandani, Aaryavir Sehwag (22), VK Vineeth and Yashbardhan Chauhan were all out cheaply. Arjun Rajput rebuilt the innings with 107, including a 64-run stand with Manal Chauhan. Kavya Patel’s 23 at the end took India past 200. Ali Raza, Rizwanullah and the left-arm spinner Niqab Shafiq took three wickets each for Pakistan.

India’s bowlers fought back. Manal Chauhan’s left-arm spin helped reduce Pakistan to five down with the score still in the sixties. Then Zahoor and Hasnain Dar (38) built a sixth-wicket stand of more than a hundred. Dar fell with 41 still needed. Zahoor stayed and hit the winning boundary himself.

Credit to Rajput. He batted through a collapse and gave his bowlers something to defend. Credit to Zahoor, who did the same job better under the pressure of a chase. For India this is अनुभव Anubhav. Four early wickets left one batter to carry the innings, and one hundred rarely carries fifty overs alone. Under-19 cricket is where such lessons cost the least. The task now is to apply this one in the next match.

What a founder takes from it: One innings carried India and one innings beat them. A side that leans on a single batter has a single point of failure. Build depth before the pressure arrives.
