ITBP chief confirms India–China face-offs in Arunachal Pradesh

The border force’s head gave the first official confirmation of face-offs reported since July. The MEA said both sides are using existing mechanisms, and the Opposition asked for a statement in Parliament.

Indo-Tibetan Border Police Director General Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor told personnel in Alwar on 22 October, ahead of the force’s 65th Raising Day, that “a face-off occurred at several places, which is still on” in Arunachal Pradesh. The Tribune called it the first official confirmation of incidents reported since July.

Kapoor said strike training for the whole force would be complete by late 2027 and that forward posts would be equipped for situations like Galwan. He described drones as a possible equaliser.

At the Ministry of External Affairs briefing on 23 October, spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the situation is disturbed from time to time when Chinese forces deviate from established patrolling patterns, and that both sides continue to use existing diplomatic and military mechanisms. He referred specific questions to the Defence Ministry.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge asked for a statement in Parliament, and Jairam Ramesh and Pawan Khera questioned the government’s handling. No Defence Ministry or Army statement had been issued by the weekend.

What a founder takes from it: Border risk feeds straight into China-linked supply and investment rules. If you depend on Chinese inputs, line up a second source before policy moves.
